The word ‘Copal’ is derived from the Aztec Nahuatil word ‘Copalli’ which refers to a variety of resins extracted from the trees of the “Bursera” family. Mayan and Aztecs have considered Copal resin as sacred for thousands of years. The Mayans used to offer Copal together with tobacco and cocoa, to the God as one of their most valuable offerings.
